There’s so much we don’t know that we don’t know.
You know ?
TGG Knowledge Library introduces you to people and perspectives we’ve found valuable on our pursuit of 100%.
Inside we’ll review episodes of podcasts that have rewired our brain (for the better) and break down our biggest takeaways, thoughts, and learnings.
The goal ?
Give you something that helps you on your pursuit of the best version of you.
Edition 001 covers an episode from The Diary of a CEO w/ guest, Dr. Gabrielle Lyon.
Dr. Gabrielle Lyon is a board-certified physician, NYT bestselling author, and founder of the Forever Strong movement. She's been making one argument the medical world has largely ignored: the health crisis isn't obesity, it's the absence of muscle.
In the episode, Dr. Lyon makes the case that skeletal muscle is the most important organ in your body for long-term health.
Here's our biggest takeaway:
If you're in the lower third of strength, you have a 50% greater risk of dying from nearly anything. Only 6–8% of people meet basic resistance training guidelines. That means the vast majority of people, including people who consider themselves "healthy", are sitting in a risk category they don't even know exists.
Dr. Lyon also goes into the connection between muscle mass and fertility, a link you probably didn’t expect, and one that reframes what it means to be in the best shape of your life.
3 things to take with you:
1. Muscle is your #1 longevity asset. You and building muscle are friends, forever. Treat building muscle as a tool to living your best life.
2. Having enough time. We’re all guilty of using time as an excuse. But - if you don’t have time for your health… how are you possibly going to have time if you’re sick, because you neglected your health ?
3. Muscle affects your entire life, not just your body. Brain chemistry. Metabolism. Hormones. Fertility. This should give an entirely different meaning to building muscle !
